And lastly, if you don’t like any of the mods I use for any reason, don’t use them.

It’ll be easier to suss out the problems that way. Pay close attention to the creators’ instructions and install them in small batches then test the game. I would not recommend downloading all of these at once and installing them willy-nilly. Your best bet would be to check the comments on the mod pages to see if someone had a similar problem and resolved it, ask the mod creator directly, or troubleshoot.

I likely won’t be able to assist in any troubleshooting endeavors.

Sex and sexiness in media is complex: I do have a few mods that will add contextually sensible nudity and some sex to the game, but I also have mods that remove more gratuitous armors and design choices that almost exclusively affect female characters.

One of my gripes of Origins is that it visually feels very generic fantasy compared to Dragon Age II and Inquisition, so most of the mods I choose try to bring some of that unique Thedosian style to the game.

I prefer mods that are lore friendly and help produce a visual continuity across all the main games.

My mod choices will reflect these decisions.

I exclusively play as female characters, and even though I try to do other romances, I almost always go for Alistair.

You’ll have a better appreciation for the game and what the mods can do for you with that experience. The game is over ten years old now and some of the features weren’t that great even for 2009, but it’s still a solid game on its own.

If you’ve never played Origins before, I would recommend playing at least one full game unmodded.

I went ahead and purchased a lifetime subscription because I use it a lot, but if you’re tight on money, you could do a one month sub for about three bucks and download everything you need within that time.

Most of these mods are exclusive to the Nexus Mods, which now does have a pretty substantial download cap for free users.

And for the handful of adjustments that require a little extra effort, there’s a lot of documentation available. For the more complex modifications, there are tools to automate the clunkier processes. In most cases, you’ll just have to drop a file into a specific folder. Dragon Age Origins was the second PC game for which I ever sought out mods (the original Sims was the first), and I feel like it’s a pretty easy game to install mods.
